Ontario's Vision, Part 2: Now, We Wait.

After my initial post about the CBC and glasses, I chose a pair of frames at ClearlyContacts.ca.

Oakley Soft Top 2.0 Cherry
The mister and my oldest both took turns measuring my PD, and it was unanimously measured at 64. So I placed my order, and it came to $227.84, after shipping, handling and insurance.

Included will be a custom glasses case, cleaning cloth and tightening tool. They guarantee 100% authenticity, and they offer a 365 day return policy. I have never heard of that last bit as applied to an eyeglass purchase.

So a few things about ClearlyContacts.ca...

  • This pair is eligible for insurance reimbursement. That leads me to believe that some are not. This is considered a pair of Luxury Frames, so I'm not sure what the differentiation is.
  • Some of the frames can not be paired with progressive lens. Such details are each frame's listing, read all of the details in each one. A face-to-face meeting with an optician eliminates the need to ask certain questions. They can take a look at your prescription and tell you whether or not you can pair your lenses with your desired frame.
  • You will not be emailed a receipt for your order. However, you can go to your account, track your order, pull up your order details, and print a receipt (.pdf format) from there if you need (see below).

Pupillary Distance

When you select a pair of frames (in that frame's listing), and click the 'Continue' arrow at the bottom right, a window will pop up for you to input your prescription information and PD.

At the bottom right, you'll see a link labelled 'What is a PD?'... click that one and you'll be taken to a page where you can download a PDF file that contains a printable PD ruler. That's what we used at home yesterday, it worked just fine.

If I think of any more details, I'll post...
